Thanks to its strategic position, Emilia is easily reachable by car, train or plane.
By car
The A1 Milan-Naples motorway crosses Emilia from east to west and connects it with various Italian cities. From the A1 the exits are: Reggio Emilia, Terre di Canossa-Campegine, Parma, Fidenza, Fiorenzuola, Piacenza south.
The A15 Parma-La Spezia motorway enters Emilia from the south from the Cisa pass tunnel. Exit at Berceto, Borgotaro, Fornovo, Parma Ovest and enter A1.
The A21 Turin-Brescia comes from the west: exits Castel San Giovanni, Piacenza Ovest, Caorso, Castelvetro. From Fiorenzuola d'Arda the branch connects the A1 with the A21.
Emilia can also be entered from the north from the Brennero A22. Reggiolo-Rolo exit.
Parallel to the axis of the A1 runs the Via Emilia, Strada Statale n. 9 (SS9), a historic road built by the Romans. Other state roads that are fundamental for traffic in Emilia are: the SS62 della Cisa, the SS63 del Cerreto, the SS10 Padana Inferiore and the SS45 Val Trebbia.
Furthermore, a dense network of provincial and municipal roads allows you to reach any corner of the territory.
By train
The railway network allows rapid connections with northern, central and southern Italy. Italo's high-speed trains (AV) connect Reggio Emilia's Mediopadana Station to Rome with various Italian cities. Within the region you can also travel with the Trenitalia regional train network.
By plane
The Giuseppe Verdi airport of Parma connects Emilia with some Italian and foreign locations. The closest international airports are Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa and Bologna.
By bus
Emilia is connected with numerous Italian towns through a dense network of bus lines.
