After arriving by bus in Carpineti, the hike begins on foot, first reaching the Castle of Carpineti, one of the most important fortifications of the Matildic defensive system. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of the upper Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The route then continues along a scenic ridge separating the Secchia and Tresinaro valleys, eventually leading to the charming Parish Church of San Vitale.
From San Vitale, a bus transfer takes the group to the picturesque village of Manno, where the hike resumes along the Matildic Way of the Holy Face, climbing through green meadows to reach the Parish Church of Santa Maria in Toano—perhaps the most complete and representative Matildic monument of its era.
