PROGRAM: 3 days/2 night
DAY 1: FRIDAY
Arrival in Langhirano and guided visit to a Prosciutto di Parma production Company where it is possible to observe the processing steps and techniques of this genuine Parma Ham, the most famous salami in the world.
Transfer to Torrechiara and visit to the Castle. The Castle was built between 1448 and 1460 upon the wish of Pier Maria Rossi. The castle is one of the most well preserved 15th century castle in Italy. The amazing “Golden room”, which was painted by Benedetto Bembo, tells the love story between Pier Maria Rossi and his lover Bianca Pellegrini.
Lunch in a typical restaurant in Torrechiara.
In the afternoon transfer to Sala Baganza and guided visit to the Sanvitale’s Fortress. The stronghold nestled in the first hills of the Apennines, shields frescoes and decorations. In its cellars, it hosts the Museum of Wine.
Following tasting of wines of “Colli di Parma”.
Transfer to Parma, UNESCO City of Gastronomy and accommodation.
Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay.
DAY 2: SATURDAY
Breakfast at the hotel.
Meeting with the guide at the Tourist Information Office – IAT.R of Parma, in Piazza Garibaldi and guided tour in the city center. Visit at the Cathedral, one of the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Italy with the dome frescoed by Correggio. Following visit to the nearby Baptistery made of Verona marble built by Benedetto Antelami.
Lunch at your leisure.
Transfer to the hills of Reggio Emilia and visit to an Acetaia, a production company of the Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale of Reggio Emilia DOP.
Final tasting and possibility of purchase.
Return to Parma and time for leisure. Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay.
DAY 3: SUNDAY
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Piacenza.
Meeting with the guide in Piazza Cittadella and departure in a minivan for the Wine&Castle Tour to Castell’Arquato. You will rich the Medieval village of Castell’Arquato, listed as one of “Italy’s most Beautiful Villages”, admiring the Collegiata, the Palazzo del Podestà and the Rocca Viscontea.
Following you will discover the secrets of a winemaker who produce the typical Piacenza’ DOP wines: guided visit to a local winery and tasting of three different types of wines with typical salami and DOP cheese of Piacenza.
Return to Piacenza at 1.30pm.
Upon request, possibility to extend the tour visiting Piacenza.
